Wheat is most cultivated in Uttar Pradesh. Wheat is the most produced crop in India and the major food crop of the state. About 80 lakh hectares of wheat is cultivated in Uttar Pradesh, in which about 350 lakh tonnes of wheat is produced. Wheat is cultivated in the plains of the Ganga River, but also in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Sugarcane is cultivated on a large scale
Sugarcane comes second. Uttar Pradesh leads in sugarcane production in India and is the major commercial crop of the state. According to statistics, about 900 lakh tonnes of sugarcane is produced in Uttar Pradesh on an area of about 50 lakh hectares in the state. Sugarcane is cultivated in the western and southern districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Rice is at number three
At the same time, rice is also cultivated on a large scale in UP. Rice cultivation ranks third in the state. According to reports, the area under rice cultivation in the state is about 30 lakh hectares and the production is about 150 lakh tonnes. Rice is cultivated in the eastern and northern districts of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, other major crops of Uttar Pradesh include pulses, oilseeds, maize, soybean, tobacco, potato, watermelon etc.
